Find a Part-Time Job Near You!

The betting man’s Super Bowl guide to job seeking

superbowl jobsIf I was a betting man, which I’m not, but if I was, I’d put my money on the Colts.  They’re favored by 4 ½ and Peyton Manning and his 3-ring circus of receivers will likely tear apart the Saints’ secondary. I’m not a betting man, of course, so it doesn’t matter.

Sometimes, no matter what you do, you have to roll the dice. But the smart gambling man will hedge his bets. The unemployment rate has 1 in 10 Americans out of work.  Even scarier, 19.2 percent (1 of 5) of young Americans aged 16-24 are out of work.  So you’ve got to hedge your bets and choose your team carefully.  Unlike the Super Bowl, there’s no line on workers’ odds, but there are things you can do.

Ask the experts: You can’t call Vegas, but you can find a trusted source in the area of your targeted job search.

Ask the fans: It’s estimated that 70 percent of jobs go to people who “know someone.”  Ask your friends, ask your family, ask your neighbors.  Try to find a hot tip and use them as a reference.

Go with your gut: You know the kind of job you’ll be successful in.  Follow your instinct and go for those jobs that you’ll be your best in and be flexible about what you’re willing to do.

I’m not a betting man, but if I was I’d pick the Colts 35-21 over the Saints, and I’d get started on a smart (and strategic) job search.
