Find a Part Time Job Near You!

Summer Jobs

Summer jobs really can be fun

It’s that time of year where teens of all types start looking for part-time summer jobs. But just because it’s got the word job in it, doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. Here are a few ideas to get you started on the road to finding a summer job that not only fills your pockets with cash, but that fills your life with a little bit of fun.

  • Travel the world - Have a sense of adventure? Want to really get away for the summer? Consider either working at a resort, on a cruise ship or teaching English in a foreign country. There are a number of jobs out there that combine fun (cruise ship performer) with travel (exotic ports of call). You may have to meet certain age requirements, so check first. Oh and you might want talk to your parents too.
  • Start your own business - No doubt you’ve already had an idea or two pop up in your brain that made you say “Gee. I wonder why no one has done that before”. Now would be the perfect time for you to do it! You may need some funding, so write up a proposal and present it to your parents (or anyone else you think might help). You could do anything from starting your own t-shirt business to making jewelry to sell on etsy.com. The possibilities really are limitless – best of all, all the profits are yours to keep.
  • Hang out with the kids - Just because you’re on summer vacation doesn’t mean everyone is. Even though the kids are at home, the parents still have to go to work and now have to find someone to watch their child 8 hours a day for the next three months. That’s where you step in. As a child care provider, you’ll be hanging out with someone’s children making sure they’re safe and cared for. And what do children like to do during the summer? Fun stuff – they like hang out at the pool all day, watch movies and play outside. And as their sitter, you’ll have to go along with. Pretty nice, huh?
  • Make friends with the animals – Just like people need someone to watch their children over the summer, people will need someone to watch their pets. You could end up house sitting and taking care of the pets of people on vacation – or you might just be responsible for taking the dog for a walk once a day while its owners are at work. If you really love animals, consider working or volunteering at an animal shelter or a zoo.
  • Enjoy the outdoors – As the weather gets warmer, you’ll want to spend more and more time outdoors. Lucky for you, there are TONS of part-time jobs out there that require you to enjoy the warm weather. Lifeguards, camp counselors, and theme park employees get to spend their days practically playing outdoors – and as you know, nothing is more fun than getting paid to do what you love.
